Call for New Projects or Initiatives
Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment
- Heather talked briefly about the upcoming Financial Value Transparency and Gainful Employment reporting requirements that the Department of Education requires of all Title IV schools.
- Mike added that the Department has not shared any guidelines or a data dictionary.
- Joan mentioned that back in 2015 there was a place set up in Banner to store this information. Joan will check to see if anything gets created for this.
NECHE Five Year
- Kirsten let the group know that NECC is 18 months out from the NECHE five-year evaluation.
- NECHE is moving from collecting data via the Data First forms to gathering data directly from IPEDS and putting them into dashboards.
- We are hopeful that this will be an easier lift.
- More information will be shared as it comes up.
Ad-Hoc Group Update
- ZogoTech Outstanding Ticket/Enhancement Cleanup + HEIRS Data Element Additions
- Mike reminded the group that NECC would be working with Cedar Labs on a pilot to pull HEIRS reporting data directly from Banner.
- Cedar Labs already works with K-12 and this pilot is their attempt at seeing whether their platform can assist public higher education institutions as well.
- There is a possibility that the state is looking to build a data warehouse to follow students from Kindergarten through college and participation in this initiative may be mandated at some point.
- Secure Data Transfer Practices/Policies
- The team met at the end of January to discuss what elements should be included in a Data Sharing and Transfer Policy. Members of the team are currently reviewing and providing feedback on a draft policy.
- The policy will outline the principles, guidelines, and procedures that govern how institutional data is shared to internal and external stakeholders.
- It provides instructions for how data can be classified based on its sensitivity and any regulations or standards that must be adhered to for compliance.
- It provides guidance on which tools to use for sharing data, and how to request data and reports.
- The draft will be shared with Data Governance once the team has finished its review.
- HR Data Cleanup
- This project is close to completion. Right now HR is waiting on the state to clean things up on their end.
- IT Directory Cleanup
- IT is making progress on this and is hoping to reduce the number of active accounts before the Office 365 contract renews to save the college money.
- Texting Communication Protocol for Faculty and Staff reaching out to students
- This group is exploring whether or not we are violating any regulations because our opt-outs are only applying to single systems, not texting as a whole.
- We discussed the possibility and challenges related to having a single platform (i.e., Navigate). More conversations are needed.
